Speaker:What a year 2024 has been already and we're only about halfway through.
Speaker:I've had the privilege this year to work with some amazing communicators,
Speaker:both one to one and through group and team mentoring programs, as
Speaker:well of course as working with the brilliant communications team at North
Speaker:East London NHS Foundation Trust.
Speaker:Award winning, don't you know?
Speaker:Yet still, confidence, self belief, a struggle with boundary setting,
Speaker:and challenges in demonstrating the strategic value communicators add to
Speaker:an organisation are still cropping up time and time again as themes that
Speaker:people are really grappling with.
Speaker:Working in communications isn't easy and being a Director of
Speaker:Communications can feel tough at times.
Speaker:Stepping up as a leader in your organisation, managing the vast array
Speaker:of priorities that come your way and positioning yourself and your team,
Speaker:all while looking after your mental health and wellbeing can feel daunting.
Speaker:But speaking from experience, it can also be really rewarding.
Speaker:As well as helping to set the tone and culture for your organisation,
Speaker:celebrating the good stuff, dealing with the tricky stuff, and
Speaker:supporting the strategic direction and delivery of your organisation,
Speaker:you also get to work with other amazing communications professionals.
Speaker:In this series of Behind the Bob, I really wanted to understand what has driven some
Speaker:of these amazing people to step up as communications directors, to understand
Speaker:more about their challenges and their successes, and most importantly, get
Speaker:their advice to support you to take the next steps in your communications career.
Speaker:And as I take some time out, having stepped away from my previous role as
Speaker:a director, to take my own advice and work out what's next for me, more on
Speaker:that in a future series, I'm absolutely sure, I have really enjoyed talking to my
Speaker:guests and sharing our stories together.
